Rebecca Dekkers MA, LAMFT
Rebecca Dekkers is a Licensed Associate Marriage and Family Therapist. She specializes in providing psychotherapy for couples and adults navigating relationship concerns, anxiety, depression, addictions, boundary issues, and trauma. Rebecca provides a compassionate and strengths-based approach with a somatic (body-based) lens. In your work with her, you can expect acceptance, understanding, humor, and a safe place to experience support, challenge, and reflective feedback.
Through her background with horses, Rebecca has experienced the grounding, self-awareness, and centeredness that a relationship with horses can provide. This led her to pursue training in the Natural Lifemanship model of equine-assisted psychotherapy (EAP) which is an attachment, neurobiological, somatic, experiential, and trauma-focused model. Rebecca’s understanding of human’s capacity for change recognizes us all as able to choose growth and to move from brokenness to wholeness. This movement is best achieved while in safe relationships characterized by compassion, patience, respect, and humility.
Additionally, as she is part way toward achieving a Master of Divinity, she hopes to also provide space for you to work out any spiritual questions. Canadian-born, Rebecca now lives in Carver County, Minnesota with her husband and three children, and her own gang of horses, goats, chickens, cats, and dogs.
